Know your risk

If you are under 40 and don't know your breast cancer risk, you need to find out now. Taking a risk assessment is the first step in understanding and taking action for your breast health.

Why should you get to know your risk?

13,000 women under 40 are diagnosed with breast cancer in the US each year.

Taking just five minutes to complete a breast cancer risk assessment can change your life. By understanding your personal risk factors, you can start informed conversations with your doctor, make lifestyle changes, and request early screening (if needed).

Bold Research

Finding out your breast cancer risk is the first step in self-advocacy but we know cancer can happen to anyone at anytime no matter the projected risk.

CAKES is committed to funding bold research focused on younger women to ensure prevention, screening and treatment options are available when they are needed.

She Is Not Too Young Fund

CAKES body has donated $400,000 to fund critical research through BCRF focused on younger women.

We want to know why younger women are being diagnosed with breast cancer at increasing rates and how to treat it. Too many times younger women are told "You're too young for breast cancer" and face unique challenges such as later detection, aggressive tumor biology, fertility/menopause impacts, and disparities in care. We want to change that! Learn more about the research we're funding.

Our Inspiration

Each of the women featured in our campaign have been impacted by breast cancer at a young age. They each share stories of hope, resilience and empowerment while facing breast cancer risk decisions and for some breast cancer treatment. We hope these stories will inspire you to find out your risk and take proactive steps today for your own health.

  • STEP 1

    Take your risk assessment

Breast cancer risk refers to the probability of developing breast cancer. Taking a 5 minute risk assessment can open the doors to new knowledge and a starting point to discuss breast health with a doctor.

  • STEP 2

    Talk to your doctor

It is important to take the results of your risk assessment to a doctor to have a holistic conversation about your breast health and any additional screening you may need based on risk factors like family history or having dense breasts.

  • STEP 3

    Complete your monthly breast exam

For women under 40 who are not regularly screened for breast cancer, it is essential to get to know your body through regular self-breast exams. For women over 40 it is important to get annual screening and continue self-breast exams.
